The regional district’s committee of the whole agreed on Tuesday the agreed closure date would remain as originally intended – June 30 – despite a suggestion from Area B director Jim Gillis to extend it until October 31.
The regional district will, however, consider as soon as next month whether some form of replacement organization is appropriate.
In the meantime, the regional district will request the return of the balance of funds allocated to the Task Force but not yet spent, amounting to $18,181.
At the suggestion of chief administrative officer Debra Oakman, the committee agreed to write to the Task Force thanking them for their dedication and volunteer efforts in addressing affordable housing and homelessness initiatives.
