The Comox Valley Housing Task Force presents a free community forum on affordable housing and homelessness. The public is invited to come together to address the importance of adequate housing to health and well‐being.
“While it is important that we are bringing experts from across Vancouver Island to this forum, it is also vital that we hear thoughts, opinions and ideas from people in our community around affordable housing and homelessness.” Said Ronna-Rae Leonard, Chair, Comox Valley Housing Task Force.
Stakeholders include the four local governments, and service providers. Sessions run throughout the day and early evening and include:
-
Develop partnerships for creative housing solutions that build a healthier community.
-
Increase commitment to create a culture of cooperation and consensus‐building.
-
Highlight the link between housing and health, access to services, and engagement in community when living in stable, healthy housing.
-
Document community perspectives on affordable housing and homelessness.
-
Learn from experiences of, and gain support for, working with other communities.
